Principal Architect PHP/LAMP/ C++/ Java

We have immediate opening for a Principal Architect with PHP / LAMP/ cakePHP with experience architecting and maintaining highly scalable, high performing systems!


Who are we?

We are a 2-year old Internet based start-up. Our development is nearly complete (90%) and now in the rollout phase. Our focus is on maintenance and further development of our dynamic marketplace involving 100s of thousands of fine gift items and thousands of websites. Our unique turn-key platform facilitates sales between supplier, retailer and consumer.



You would be taking over responsibility from original architect which means entering a complex, multi-platform project that is nearly completed and having to take it to the next phase: Rollout and marketing.



Professional Expectations:

7+ years of internet product development experience
5+ years of database / backend experience
Expert in PHP, C++, and Java programming on Linux/Unix
Deep proficiency and experience in web-based application development, server-side programming, and SQL, MySQL and other database technologies
Proficiency in caching systems and related architectures (memcached, akamai, etc)
Demonstrated ability to architect and build scalable, high performing and reliable systems
Strong computer architecture and computer science fundamentals
Extremely experienced in consumer product development
Excellent web analytical skills, able to analyze statistics and logs
Excellent complex system debugging skills
Extensive large, complex, scalable system design and architecture experience
Very organized (can manage multiple simultaneous projects, can project manage large complex projects)
Able to work in a fast paced environment, with rapidly changing requirements, on products that ship to millions of users
MS or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent


What you'll be doing:



Lead/Manage a small group of mostly mid-level telecommuting cakePHP coders
Provide technical leadership and motivation to outsourced team
Function as key technical participant in designing and spec'ing out features and products (working with Business Development, Sales Team)
Lead infrastructure, scalability, maintainability, and security related projects
Design and further develop our system and its framework to allow rapid development of future designs
Design, build and maintain extremely scalable and reliable consumer & business internet products and services
Responsible for the overall technical design, architecture and maintenance of all parts of system
